Walking!

Ten Months and One Day

No more of this one step and fall down... Dantley is officially walking.

The balloon was his motivation -- until it popped.  Before we know it he will ditch crawling all together.

Baby Steps and Hair Cuts

 August 13, 2011

Dantley at 9 and 1/2 months taking one or two steps but not full on walking

He can stand for a few seconds but once he realizes what he is doing he gets nervous and falls on his behind.

Trey had a mohawk especially for the Lewis reunion... here it isn't gelled up.
After we got home Jake shaved it off, a few tears were shed, but we figured a few weeks with a red mohawk was long enough.  It wasn't that Trey really wanted to keep the hawk, he just wasn't ready for all of his hair to be this short.  We appeased him by giving Dantley a haircut to match.

Fun at Grandpa Alder's House

We were able to spend almost an entire week at Grandpa Alder's house while Jake and Bill worked on the cabin.  Here are some of the highlights of the week - August 8-13, 2011.

Bailey was a huge help.  She spent lots of time entertaining the kids.

Dantley is getting into waving lately.

These pictures were taken during the time that Jake and Bill were doing the first stage of cabin restoration -- so we joked that Dantley was trying to peal logs too.

I might just have a picture of every one of my kids getting a horsey ride like this from grandpa.  Dantley didn't stay on too long, he just wants to be down and on the go.

Hula hoops coming out the ears -- every where we went.

Even Dantley felt like he had to get in on the action.

Hooray!

Lewis Family Reunion

Right after our Butch Cassidy Road trip we took off to Idaho to go to the Lewis Family reunion where we met up with Daddy and Grandma and Grandpa Lewis.

August 5th - 7th, 2011

The Monday following the reunion is the Tea Party.  Boys aren't really invited, but Grandpa Bill and Jake were up working on the cabin, so you had to tag along.  By the end of it you were surrounded by pretty girls enthralled with your cuteness.

August 4th, 2011

When we got back to Teri's my best friend from High School drove up from Denver to have a BBQ with us at Teri's.  It was great to see her and meet her baby Ethan for the first time.  She also had never met you before.

The kids loved staying at Teri's and had a blast with their new dog Howie.

The Origin of Your New Nickname (at least the one Grandpa Hyde calls you)

Road Trip

Saturday July 29th -  Thursday August 4th

The older kiddos stayed at Teri's house and you and I went with grandma and grandpa Hyde on a road trip to see some old outlaw sights and visit the South west. It was a great time for all of us.

First stop Glenwood Springs, CO and a hike to the old cemetery where Doc Holliday and Harvey Logan are buried.

Delta, CO

Telluride, CO
Location of the first bank that Butch Cassidy robbed

Mesa Verde National Park

4 corners
Those people in the background took like 800 pictures of themselves posing on the corners.  We came back 20 minutes later after browsing the shops and they were still at it.

Alma, Mexico

W.S. Cemetery -- Butch Cassidy worked at the W.S. Ranch and some of these headstones were from before his time there.  It was neat to know that this little cemetery was there when he was.

The Very Large Array - National Radio Astronomy Observatory

Santa Fe

Turkey Creek Canyon - Location of the shootout in which Sam Ketchum was caught and Elzy Lay was captured.

Here are a few more pics from the trip ---
Dantley was so good during the long drives and even at night (because he got to sleep with mommy).  He wasn't the best when we went to the Harry Potter movie in the theatre -- I spent almost the entire show chasing him back and forth.  He talked like crazy during our Mesa Verde tour (almost on cue) and the guide kept laughing and playing off of his noise.  During the trip Grandpa started calling him Butch -- and I think that will be what Grandpa calls him from now on.  I kind of like it.

All in all though it was worth bringing him along, even if he won't remember a thing.
