Seven Months!

Time is flying -- It seems Dantley is growing faster than any of my other kids did.  He has such a little personality now.  He is eating solids and started picking up small cereals and putting them in his mouth.  He prefers that over the mush.  He is constantly grabbing cords or whatever else might be the most hazardous around near ground level.  Still not sleeping well at night -- wakes up 2 to 3 times a night.  He loves the cat and tries to follow him around.  It is amazing how patient Scotty is with him, he lets him grab him and pull his ears and has never once tried to scratch him.

Here are some pictures from the photo shoot I did of him on May 29th.

He wasn't that interested in looking up because he was totally fascinated by the grass.

 Love this little guy!

Dantley seems to be a bit more of Daddy's little boy than the other kids.  He gets excited when Jake gets home and wants him to pick him up.  Of course because I am the food source he still has a slight preference for me, but nothing like the other three had.

Brotherly Love

I noticed this in a photo and decided to crop it because it is such a typical sight around here.

Trey just adores you!  He is constantly asking to hold your hand and to play with you.  He likes to climb into your crib and sing songs that he makes up for you.  Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming for you and for me.  He tends to squish you a little more than you would like and not give you as much space as I would like him to.  But it is obvious he loves you and enjoys being a big brother.

Sitting

Dantley has been army crawling all over the place for a few weeks now... but today he sat up unassisted for quite a length of time for the first time.  He wants to be on the move so sitting doesn't interest him all that much, but we were outside in the grass and he just sat there for a while taking it all in.

I definitely need to get a picture soon.

Quick Visit

Grandpa Bill's work brings him to the Seattle area off and on. He came on Friday, May 13th for a meeting and was able to spend Saturday evening at Tasha's soccer game with us and then go to 2 hours of church with us on Sunday. We sure enjoy having him come, even if it is just for a short visit.

Six Months!

Yes, it is true.  Dantley is 6 months old already.

Six Month Stats
Height - 26" (45%)
Weight - 16 lbs 14 oz (45%)
Head Circ. 17.3" (55%)

Jake ended up taking him to the Doctor this time because I was sick.  He had a couple of shots, but wasn't to phased by it.  The Dr. commented that he is quite strong and that with how much he moves, he may be a handful (we had already guessed that might be the case).

And with 6 months comes the joy and mess of adding solids.
We jumped the gun a little with him because for several weeks now he reaches and grunts at us whenever we are eating.  It is like he is yelling at us to give him some.  He seemed more than ready, so on Easter since we were feasting we decided to mix a little rice cereal up for him.

He spit almost every bit of it out and made faces to let us know he was well aware that we were feeding him something different than we were eating.

On his 6 month mark we tried again -- with little more success, but much better pictures.

This is how he really feels about this mush!

He is happy that we are trying, but still not to happy with the flavor.  I guess I shouldn't have snuck him a taste of ice cream earlier.

Six months is such a fun age.  Dantley is such a little person now.  He is always on the go, rolling around and scooting, putting everything he can find in his mouth.  He loves to try and eat paper and if he sees a cord he tries to gnaw on it before we snatch it from him.  He is quite a happy little guy despite still having lots of painful looking issues with the skin on his cheeks.  It is a never ending cycle of tiny blisters, scratches, redness that slowly heals and then comes right back.  He likes to squeal and make tongue noises.  Tasha has taught him how to hug.  She holds her arms out to him and he does the same and then squeezes.  He still doesn't sleep much.  Once in a while he will take a long nap, but at night it is rare for him to sleep over 4 hours.  He likes to be in the action and doesn't hold still even when he is eating.

What Became of the Gingerbread Man?

Here's a few clues...

  Caught red-handed

Tamsyn was sad that her artwork had been eaten -- but she quickly forgave this cute little face.

But watch out world!  Dantley is on the move.
